Platinum MixLab Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How much are the Platinum MixLab courses?
A. Classes are $249 for each four week course segment. And don’t forget…with each four week segment you enroll for you will receive a $50 music credit at Platinum Records!
Q. What does Platinum MixLab offer classes in?
A. Platinum MixLab is currently offering classes in DJ Mixing and Turntablism (Scratching).
Q. Do you have a music production course?
A. We will be offering more classes in music production starting in Spring of 2012.
Q. How old do I have to be?
A. Any age with desire is welcome!
Q. When are the classes held?
A. Classes vary in days but are normally during the hours of 3:30pm-5pm and then 5:30pm-7pm. More classes at different times will be opened up as demand for alternate class times increase.
Q. How long are classes and how long is a course?
A. Each class is twice a week at an hour and a half long. The course segments are four weeks long each and there are four segments to complete the training from start to finish.
Q. What if I don’t have turntables or gear? How can I practice?
A. We will have Open Deck Practice Times on Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00am to 3:00pm. We will have records, mixers, and turntables available for all of our students. All enrolled students are welcome. Bring your headphones and have fun. More times will be opened up as demand for alternate times increase.
Q. I don’t own any records. Can I still enroll?
A. Absolutely! In fact, with each four week course registration, you will receive a $50 music credit to purchase records at Platinum Records!
Q. What if I don’t care about records and just want to learn about digital
A. Although we at the MixLab know that the basis and history of DJing lies with vinyl records we know that DJing strictly with records is not for everyone. We will be covering digital DJing platforms starting in DJ301 and Turntablism301 and above. We will also be offering a digital Djing course in the future that will explore all of the avenues of that later in 2012.
Q. What if I am not a beginner and need to be moved up?
A. No problem! Come in at any of our open house/open deck times and you can be tested and placed accordingly with any of our instructors.
